Background:Mr. Jelen is the Field Director for Environment Oregon. As Field Director, Jonathan builds and organizes support around public interest issues such as protecting Oregon’s clean air and clean water, increasing the use of clean energy sources, and protecting Oregon’s last wild places. Before starting in his current role, Jonathan was the Director of the Telephone Outreach Project in Portland where he oversaw fundraising and citizen outreach for several state environment groups and state PIRGs across the country, including Environment Oregon. In his four years directing the Telephone Project, he worked on several successful clean energy campaigns as well as campaigns to protect Oregon’s wild forests. He also worked to establish the state’s Clean Cars program, which will reduce the global warming pollution emitted by cars and trucks across the state. Starting with the State PIRGs in 2001, Jonathan directed canvass offices in Alaska, New Mexico, and Oregon.
