Jeremiah Baumann is the advocate for Environment Oregon Research & Policy Center. A native of Montana who spent his
childhood in Pasco, Washington, Jeremiah joined Environment Oregon's staff in the spring
of 2005 after working on the national staff of the state PIRGs' New Voters Project,
where he directed strategic planning and non-student outreach efforts for the
campaign. Jeremiah joined the organization in 1998 as an Environmental Associate
in our federal lobbying office in Washington, DC. As director of the state PIRGs'
federal Toxics and Environmental Health program from 2000 to 2003, he directed
successful campaigns to twice expand EPA right-to-know regulations, requiring
thousands of companies to start disclosing toxic pollution to the public and,
in the wake of 9/11, developed a Chemical Plant Security campaign to require
chemical companies to adopt safer chemicals and processes in order to make communities
safer from potential terrorist activity. Mr. Baumann is a graduate of Yale University.
