Protect Crater Lake

Logging companies want to clearcut thousands of acres of forest around Crater Lake—endangering Roosevelt elk, black bears, bald eagles, spotted owls and spawning salmon. We’re calling on Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden to protect Crater Lake and its inhabitants by designating 500,000 acres as new Wilderness.

Keep Plastic Out of the Pacific

A toxic soup of trash called the Pacific Garbage Patch is swirling off our coast. Too much of the trash comes from single-use plastic bags, which choke, suffocate or kill millions of turtles, birds and other marine wildlife each year. Let’s convince our lawmakers to ban the bags and keep plastic litter out of our ocean.

Program

Healthy Farms, Healthy Planet

The food we eat is one of our closest connections to the natural world. Farms should be environmentally friendly and provide food that is safe and healthy. Environment Oregon is working to make sure the rules for conventional farms are strong enough to protect our rivers and bays. At the same time, we are helping to build the market for food from local farms that grow diversified crops using sustainable practices.

Program

Getting Oregon off oil

Oregon’s pioneering clean car standards led the way for the most important federal policy ever enacted to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels: A nationwide 54.5 mpg fuel efficiency standard by 2025. Now, we’re calling on our leaders to take the next steps needed to break our addiction to oil.

Fighting Global Warming

Too much of our energy comes from dirty sources that harm our environment.  But by tapping the power of the sun and wind, and using less energy in the first place, we can repower our lives with clean energy that doesn’t pollute and never runs out.

Program

Clean Air, Healthy Families

New EPA clean air standards will cut mercury pollution by 90% and save 46,000 lives each year. The coal industry and their friends in Congress are trying to roll back these standards, but we’re urging Congress to let EPA do its job and move forward with its commonsense plan to protect public health.
