West Coast Governors agree to lead the way on reducing global warming pollution

Environment Oregon

Portland, OR – Last week, Gov. Kitzhaber joined with governors from Washington and California, as well as the premier of British Columbia, to sign the Pacific Coast Action Plan on Climate and Energy. Charlie Fisher, Environment Oregon’s field organizer, released the following statement:

“From drought and devastating wildfires to extreme precipitation, Oregon is already feeling the effects of global warming. The Pacific Coast Action Plan on Climate and Energy is an historic step towards tackling global warming in our state, along the West coast, and in the United States.”

“We applaud Gov. Kitzhaber’s leadership in pledging to prioritize meaningful action to limit global warming pollution. Now legislators in Salem have to act. They can follow Gov. Kitzhaber’s lead and protect Oregon’s health and environment by implementing the Clean Fuels program; expanding clean energy development, like solar; and pursuing policies to cut carbon pollution as quickly as possible.”
